A Little About Myself:Hello! I'm Sam Mikelic, an experienced location sound mixer, recordist, boom operator, and utility. I'm available for worldwide travel with a U.S. Passport to help tell great stories by recording the highest quality isolated and mix tracks that your post-production team will appreciate!
I'm experienced in recording sound for narrative, reality, and documentary film & television, Corporate sit-down's, ENG, Commercials, and live music projects. I'm committed to delivering the very best audio tracks possible with a positive, friendly and professional attitude! Please see my owned equipment list and my resume/ work history for more information. I'm originally from Sacramento, CA where as a 1st grader I was playing with cassette tape decks and microphones while the other kids had G.I. Joe. I became involved in Radio, Film, Theater & TV production as a teen. During and after college I chose a successful career in Consumer Electronics (selling and using all of these toys), and today I'm lucky to work in the field of my life-long passion: location sound mixing and recording! Using that passion for sound to deliver professional audio is what I do best, and I look forward to speaking with you about how I can add value to your future project! |
MANTRA
This incredible feature film is a psychological thriller set for release in 2020. Evan Kamber (Alex Suarez) is haunted. Everywhere he goes, he sees images of his recently murdered brother. In desperation, he turns to Dr. Warren Atherton (Dan Franklin), a "naturopathic psychiatrist" who has an unorthodox treatment plan that brings more questions than answers. Meanwhile, a hot-shot detective at Tustin P.D. (Manny Shih) is trying to make sense of the homicide and has some questions of his own.
Recorded on location in Orange County, CA, I was the Production Sound Mixer for the film and loved every single day on-set because of the challenges presented and successfully resolved. Horror films are never easy to record due to the sudden changes in actor's delivery and the unique locations used, but with the right gear and techniques used every day was a success. FAULTLINES - "RAIN" NPR TINY DESK CONTEST ENTRY 2018
This live music video was recorded in one take at the entrance to The Hollywood Bowl, in front of a pedestrian tunnel under North Highland Avenue known for its great acoustics. The performance was captured using a hidden Sanken COS-11 lav on each performer, a RODE shotgun mic pointed at the guitar, and a Sennheiser MKH-50 on an overhead boom to capture their haunting, reverberant sound mixed within the gritty cityscape environment. There is no post-processing done in this mix.
